The HQ AFRL Inspector General (IG) seeks to fill the mid-level, DO-02 position of Director of Complaints located within the HQ AFRL Inspector General) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
 
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Serves as the Center's Senior Level Specialist and Subject Matter Expert (SME) to a broad range of complex and diverse organizations comprised of senior military and civilian leaders.
  • Performs investigations, inspections, reviews, and analysis of AFRL organizations and programs to evaluate and/or recommend to senior leadership, courses of action specific to mission readiness, organizational compliance, and unit morale.
  • Serves as Complaint Resolution Program (CRP) resident expert and sustains a creditable CRP by conducting IG complaint intakes, clarifying and analyzing evidence, determining appropriate resolution strategy, and resolving complaint related issues IAW DoD and Secretary of the Air Force (SAF), and MAJCOM guidance.
  • Establishes and administers an active Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FW&A) program, while also educating the Center populous on prevention, detection, and reporting of FW&A matters.
  • Responsible for administering and oversight of the installation Congressional Inquiries Program to include: timeliness, complaint clarification, analysis, organizational tasking, response coordination oversight, and obtaining command review and signature.

Required Qualifications

  • United States Citizenship
  • Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov
  • Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade in the Federal system or equivalent pay system. 
  • The employee is required to attend and complete the Inspector General Training Course (IGTC) no later than 90 days after selection, IAW applicable Air Force Instructions.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of AFRL organizational structure, management principles, concepts, and techniques associated with the IG policies and procedures on various applicable programs.
  • Knowledge of principles, concepts, legal requirements, and methodologies of the various IG complaints programs.
  • Knowledge of AFRL missions and operations, including functional relationships, wherein knowledge of those applicable functional operations would likely become critical during certain types of investigations and inspections.
  • Ability to formulate and justify reports to senior-level staff and higher-headquarters functions through oral and written communication.
