This job announcement will be accepting candidate submissions until 17-Sep-24 The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), 711th Human Performance Wing (711 HPW), Plans and Programs (XP), Strategic Medical Plans & Programs (XPH), seeks to fill a mid-level, DR-02 Research General Health Science Officer position at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.

Position duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducts technical and strategic planning by applying medical and health science theories, principles, practical concepts, and processes to the Human Performance Wing (HPW) medical programs. 
  • Serves as medical integration manager for the Defense Health Program (DHP) component of the Wing. 
  • Analyzes DoD, DHA, AF, and AFRL medical needs and priorities to advise Wing leadership on strategy, program alignment, and investment gaps. Integrates programmatic, scientific, and budget information to support technical program planning, programming, execution, and reporting. 
  • Provides strategic and technical guidance on the development of medical program roadmaps. 
  • Interact with RH, USAFSAM and Wing staff offices, other AFRL TDs' planning teams, HQ AFRL staff, AFMS staff, and DHA staff as needed to coordinate technical planning and programming priorities and actions. 
  • Supports Air Force future planning and capability development processes in the context of the Wing's medical S& T and aeromedical missions. 
  • Conducts planning assessments and alignment of the 711 HPW medical S& T portfolio against MAJCOM needs. Interacts with and advises AFRL mission area leads, capability working groups, MAJCOMs, acquisition program offices, and Wing program managers to coordinate technology investment planning and transition. 
  • Plans, develops, and presents presentations for 711 HPW, AFRL, AF and DoD senior leadership of Wing's S&T efforts. Prepares staff packages in response to Wing and HQ AFRL, AFMS, DHA, and OSD taskings. Monitors, prepare, and present reports to AFRL, AFMS, and DHA.

Required Qualifications

  • United States Citizenship
  • Bachelor’s or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance
  • Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov
  • Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one (1) year or 52 weeks of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent in an alternate pay system. SF-50 for current federal employees is required to verify at least one (1) year or 52 weeks of specialized experience at the next lower grade level.
