The AFRL Sensors Directorate, AFRL/RY seeks to fill a mid-level, DR-02 (GS-12/GS-13 equivalent) position at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio to serve as a Positioning, Navigation and Timing Engineer for the Navigation and Communications Branch.

Position duties include, but are not limited to:
-Develops or modifies precise time and frequency transfer technologies to support warfighting applications. Involved in highly advanced Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) system development initiatives, particularly in the area of theoretical and experimental research that increases the availability, precision and accuracy of PNT systems in challenged environments. This includes research on theory and techniques that are not dependent on GPS, and it includes theory and techniques that increase the availability and accuracy of GPS.
- Conceives and validates requirements, conducts contract management, and conducts in-house research on PNT. Conducts tests, evaluations, and research using scientific and engineering principles.
- Position requires the use of judgment and originality in the development of techniques and approaches to provide PNT in GPS challenged environments
-Techniques and technology include advanced timing, clock and frequency systems, inertial navigation systems, vision and laser aided navigation, software radio, open systems architecture principles, and more.

Required Qualifications

-Must possess a professional science or engineering (S&E) degree from an accredited academic institution
-Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance
-Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade or equivalent in other pay systems.
-This position has been designated as a Non-Critical Acquisition Position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Engineering & Technical Management (N), 2 - Practitioner Non-Critical acquisition certification. The selectee must meet or be capable of achieving acquisition certification within (60 months) after assignment. This position also requires the employee to engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 80 continuous learning points every 24 months. *Applicants must list all completed APDP certifications on their resume.

-Experience in designing, conducting, and documenting precise time and frequency transfer technologies experimentation in a laboratory or open field environment.
-Experience using time and frequency test equipment such as time interval counters, phase noise test sets, and frequency standards.
-Experience designing, modeling, or simulating precise time and frequency transfer technologies, systems, or environments.
