This is an interdisciplinary leadership opportunity open to current Federal Civilian employees eligible for a DO/DR-03 or 04. The incumbents will serve as one of two Branch Chiefs in a brand new RS Division establishing the Directorate's support to the Air Force Materiel Command Integrated Development Office (AFMC/IDO). Positions will be filled with a duty station of either Wright-Patterson AFB or Eglin AFB, to be finalized with the new RS division stand-up.
AFMC/IDO is a new organization in the startup phase, encompassing mission engineering, early systems acquisition, and architecture integration. It is comprised of professionals from each of the six AFMC centers including the Air Force Research Laboratory. The IDO will work with the Systems Centers and AFRL to ensure continuous pipelines of competitive technology development, and with the Program Executive Officers (PEOs) to structure execution-ready Programs-of-Record for transition to, and management by, the PEOs and Program Offices within the AFMC Systems Centers. The IDO will be responsible for defining and overseeing early systems acquisition prototyping, experimentation, and mission engineering; executing enterprise-focused and integrated early systems engineering and systems acquisition; and applying the technical architectures developed and managed by the three Systems Centers.
In addition to establishing Directorate (RS) and AFRL support to the AFMC/IDO, position duties will include, but may not be limited to:
- Manages various aspects of the branch personnel resources and facilitates planning, execution and reporting IAW mission goals
- Supervises personnel, champions workforce development, and directs branch activities to include setting objectives, planning, designing, and directing work to meet evolving directorate and AFMC/IDO priorities
- Builds partnerships with pertinent branches across AFRL, AFMC, etc. to enhance integrated capability development
- As first-level supervisor, hires, mentors, and develops employees within the branch
- Performs long-range planning of manpower and supports programmatic planning activities within branch scope, defends the resources needed to achieve organizational goals, and expertly guides the implementation of resources in a dynamic environment
- Incumbent will also have technical duties within the IDO commensurate with grade level and experience (to be negotiated as part of hiring process)

Required Qualifications
- United States Citizenship
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
- Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience related to the position duties at the DR/DO-02 (GS-13 equivalent) for DR/DO-03 consideration or DR/DO-03 (GS-14 equivalent) experience for DR/DO-04 consideration.
- This is an interdisciplinary position. Applicants must be able to meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards of the occupational series assigned when the position is filled. - This is a supervisory position. Incumbent may be subject to a supervisory probation period.

- This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level/Tier 2 (Practitioner) Non-Critical Certification in Engineering and Technical Management or Program Management. Minimum experience requirement for APDP is 4 years, and the selectee will have 60 months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained. Applicants must list all completed APDP certifications on their resume.

- Experience related to, or supporting, organizational development, science and technology, research and development, test and evaluation, and/or program management is highly desired.
- Demonstrated ability leading or supervising cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience distilling strategic and/or leadership guidance into actionable plans in support of program objectives.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead people, build consensus, and identify and resolve conflicts/problems with the workforce.
- Ability to motivate, develop, and grow cross-functional teams.
- An advanced academic degree in an applicable field of study from an accredited academic institution is highly desired.
