Albuquerque, NMThe Computational Physics Section (AFRL/RDHEC) of the High Power Electromagnetics Division of the Directed Energy Directorate seeks a highly motivated person to join our team. DR-02: $74,734 - $117,351, DR-03: $103,145 - $145,762Job Overview
This job announcement will be accepting candidate submissions until 19 July 2024
The group has three main areas of work and the ideal candidate would be able to contribute to two of the three areas (or be strong in one and able to grow into a second area). These areas are:
- Code development. This requires strong coding skills in C++ using modern coding practices. We have an in-house Electromagnetic Particle-in-Cell code (ICEPIC) as well as a far-field propagation code (JREM).
- High-power Microwave (HPM) Source development. This requires using the ICEPIC code (and possibly others) to model and design Gigawatt class, HPM devices.
- Development of military utility assessment tools. This requires the use of JREM and mission analysis to build scripts and models for use in AFSIM (Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling software) to demonstrate the utility of HPM systems.
