AFRL seeks to hire a motivated and experienced engineer to serve as a Facility Operations Engineer in the Foundational Technology Mission Support Office (REY) or Site Support Division (SSR) of AFRL at Wright-Patterson AFB. This position will be filled at the DR-II (GS-12/13 equivalent) level and is located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio. This is a full-time, permanent position.
This position may be filled as a 5-year Flexible Term Appointment (current government term employees, etc.) with the option to later convert to a permanent appointment.

Position duties include, but are not limited to:
As a Facility Operations Engineer/Project Manager, acts as an authority in the field advising elements within the MO on all matters involving functional workspace, DoD, DAF & Base facility standards, planning/programming, and International Building & Unified Construction criteria compliance.
Serves as the technical point of contact to oversee programming, design and construction facility projects including office renovations and laboratory reconfigurations.
Works as an interdisciplinary Engineer or Architect.
Works with Civil Engineering (CE) and other outside agencies to provide requirements for special projects such as Lab Revitalization, Military Construction (MILCONs), Operations and Maintenance (O&M), Sustainment, Restoration and Modernization (SRM), Environmental, or CE funded projects.
Works with other divisions and outside agencies to integrate and coordinate technical projects, associated strategies, and prepares final products, which include briefings, data calls, point papers, etc.
As a Facility Engineer works with peer mission organizations, Base CE, AFRL, AFMC, other DoD, and outside organizations.
Collaborates with Work Order Manager & Facility Design Team in managing cost, schedule & scope of all facility related projects.
Serves as subject matter expert to ensure compliance with various codes and uses multidisciplinary professional engineering knowledge to address architectural and construction issues.
Provides guidance & recommendations to management to resolve findings from audits & site visits from OSHA, AFAA, AFMC, AFRL & others.
Develops & institutes policies & procedures to prevent repeat findings.
Creates, develops & coordinates data & information packets requested from higher HQs or other agencies.
Provides guidance and recommendations to MO management to resolve findings from audits, site visits, and self-inspections.

Required Qualifications
- US Citizenship
- Must be able to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance, as a condition of employment
- Applicant must be able to meet OPM qualifications of the position being filled
- Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology (ABET) Engineering degree or equivalent Professional Architect’s Registration
Desired Qualifications
- Professional P.E. or R.A. is preferred
- Candidate with prior DAF CE programming, design, construction and operations functional area experience is preferred
- Candidate with prior USACE, AFRL design, construction and operations functional area experience is preferred
- Candidate with a Master degree is preferred
- Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) experience is preferred
- Candidate resume must clearly articulate relevant prior experience and functional area compliance experience
