The AFRL Information Directorate (AFRL/RI), seeks to hire a senior level, DR-0801-04, to serve as the Chief Engineer for the Directorate.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Serves as the S&T Chief Engineer (CE) and the Technical Engineering Authority for the Information Technical Directorate (TD)
- Applies expert knowledge and mastery of advanced engineering methods, theories and standards (such as electrical engineering and computer engineering) to provide advice and counsel to the TD Director and the entire directorate on systems engineering (SE) and programmatic matters
- Utilizes multidisciplinary professional engineering knowledge to develop, improve, and implement tailored SE processes, policies, practices, tools, and training across the directorate's S&T portfolio and the S&E workforce to ensure successful S&T execution
- Establishes and maintains working partnerships with end users and system managers across the acquisition and sustainment enterprise to ensure directorate's technology development efforts are informed by the right requirements to enable best possible technology transition success
- Measures SE application and effectiveness within the directorate. Ensures directorate remains compliant with AFRL and higher headquarters SE and other engineering policies
- Mentors directorate S&Es and provides SE guidance and coaching
- Tailors and applies Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E) and/or Mission Assurance principles to directorate programs as appropriate As the TD representative to the AFRL SE Council, collaborates with the Director of Engineering and other directorate CEs to develop and promote consistent systems engineering policy and training across AFRL and to ensure broadest dissemination of enterprise best practices
- Participates in SE professional societies and establishes a network outside the directorate and Air Force in order to keep abreast of the latest SE and technology developments in industry and academia

Required Qualifications
- United States Citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret security clearance
- Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited academic institution
- Eligibility: 1 year of specialized experience equal to the DR-III, or GS-14 equivalent. Specialized Experience is experience directly related to the position that was performed at a level equivalent to the grade directly below the position
- This is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position that requires Practitioner Level certification in Engineering & Technology Management (ETM). The selectee will have two years to meet ADPD requirements
