The Air Force Research Laboratory’s Space Vehicles Directorate IT Requirements Branch (AFRL/RVIR) seeks a highly motivated and experienced mid-career IT professional to manage DoD network systems, including monitoring, and maintaining complex hardware and software titles.

Position duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Installing, configuration, and troubleshooting of software packages. 
  • Ensuring optimal system operation and compliance with DoD standards. 
  • Responsible for developing installation guides and ensuring software entitlements are properly accounted for.
  • Management and maintenance of all software titles used by our customers.
  • Assists users in selecting and utilizing software technology, provides technical advice, and ensures customer requirements are met. 
  • Recommends and specifies software changes, developing test procedures, maintaining system software, and troubleshooting software issues. 
  • Assesses new software ensuring compatibility with existing systems and recommending effective automation approaches. 
  • Customer support and purchase of software packages 
  • Purchase of software and hardware support
  • Utilizing ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM) to manage software entitlements.
  • Ensure compliance with End User License Agreements (EULA)
  • Serves as a technical expert on software and hardware user agreements

Required Qualifications

  • US Citizenship
  • Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience at the DO-01/GS-11 or equivalent grade level. 
  • This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement.
  • Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of the position must achieve and maintain IAT Level II certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six-month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
  • Significant knowledge of software and hardware acquisitions in the DOD environment. 
  • Applicants must currently hold, or have the ability to obtain, a DOD Secret clearance.

Specialized experience is experience that equips the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge ServiceNow, IT Service Management (ITSM), IT Operations Management (ITOM), and Software Asset Management (SAM).
  • Experience and knowledge of purchasing IT software and hardware within the DOD.
  • Experience with installing complex software packages.
  • Effective communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills necessary to present, explain, and advise fellow IT experts or customers.
