The HQ AFRL Infrastructure & Customer Management Branch (IZHI) seeks to fill a mid-level, DR/DO-02 position in the new Digital Capabilities Directorate, Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Formulates, implements, monitors, and maintains major command strategic and tactical plans in support of laboratory and command IT goals and objectives for complex, high-performance computing (HPC) systems in support of the DoD Supercomputing Resource Center (DSRC).
- Serves as security and accreditation consultant for AFRL's IT systems and programs and ensures all of DoD's information security requirements are met. Identifies, develops, and recommends for approval plans and actions that fully implement IT security initiatives throughout AFRL.
- Performs risk analysis for the laboratory's networks, enclaves, data and software to ensure the integrity of these systems.
- Enforces command policy and guidance that must be implemented or supplemented to ensure successful execution of DoD and Air Force Information Assurance (IA) initiatives.
- Manages AFRL network security, which includes information assurance. As senior IA advisor for the laboratory, directs IA activities of network security programs. Manages the application of Certification and Accreditation standardization technology.

Information Technology Specialist (2210):

Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

4. Problem Solving -AND- - One year of specialized experience at the next lower GS-grade (or equivalent). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT.

Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
Computer Scientist (1550):
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

Computer Engineer (0854):
- Engineering Degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor’s degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

- This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring a Level 2 Practitioner Non-Critical certification in Engineering & Technical Management (N). Applicants for this position are encouraged to list any acquisition certifications in their resume.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as an ISSM/ISSO is desired but not required.
- Previous work with Special Access Programs (SAP) and/or Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (SCI), and Risk Management Framework is desired but not required.
- DoDD 8140 Certification, Security+ or CISSP is preferred.
- CISCO Certification, JUNOS Certification is desired.
- Linux+ is desired.
- High Performance Computing experience is desired.
