The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) operates across multiple major geographic locations, each supported by a dedicated AFRL Detachment. Detachment 6 at the Eglin Research Site (ERS) delivers a comprehensive suite of common, institutional support functions to the Air Warfare Directorate (RA), the primary local AFRL Science and Technology (S&T) Mission Organization.

The Site Director provides daily oversight and leadership of the Det 6 functions supporting the Air Warfare Directorate and ERS customers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience across a range of support areas, including Information Technology, Security (multi-level), Logistics, Infrastructure, Site Support (production, emergency management/C2), and Business & Research Support (Unit Programs). The Site Director will lead a multidisciplinary workforce and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-impact results.

Major Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide day-to-day strategic leadership and oversight of all Detachment 6 support activities for the Air Warfare Directorate (RA).
  • Manage and oversee the Det 6 budget, including development, forecasting, and execution.
  • Serve as the primary interface with the Air Warfare Directorate and other customers, ensuring the delivery of critical force multiplier services.
  • Represent Det 6 in senior leadership forums with DoD, USAF, AFMC, AFRL headquarters, other AFRL Directorates, and Team Eglin.
  • Advise senior management on program status and impacts to cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Advise and counsel employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Apply diverse management practices to identify and resolve complex issues consistent with program objectives and policies.

Required Qualifications

  • US Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (DR-03/GS-14), or equivalent.
  • Must meet all OPM Qualification Standard requirements for the applicable occupational series and grade.

Desired Qualifications

Extensive experience in operations management, program/project management, and resource management.

Proven success leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-level initiatives.
