The Air and Space Division of the 711th Human Performance Wing within the Air Force Research Laboratory is looking for an outstanding leader that has technical experience leading biomedical research. 

 

 

Position Duties include but are not limited to: 

 

 

  • Serves as core research area (CRA) leader for Biomedical Impact of Air and Space, providing strategic direction, leading and performing research and development efforts in aerospace and operational medicine, health and human performance, and human safety and security in aerospace weapon systems in any environment for the 711th Human Performance Wing, Airman Systems Directorate

     

  • Provides technical oversight and personal contributions, serving as the technical task lead for basic and applied biomedical science research to ensure the highest quality of S&T and relevance. 

     

  • Works with the Division/Branch leaders, 711/RH Core Technology Competency (CTC) Leads, Product Line Leads (PLLs), program managers, technical leads and corporate planning processes to integrate CRA efforts into broader organizational strategy. 

     

  • Applies technical direction via high level of expertise supporting in-house and geo-separate areas in data support and analysis; development and submission of research protocols to institutional review boards and use committees; independently writing and reviewing research, presentations, technical reports, grants, and proposals; preparing manuscripts, reports, and presentations; mentoring junior scientists and engineers. 

     

  • Demonstrates a mastery of, and skill in applying, innovative physiological practices, techniques, and methodology to identify, analyze, and resolve issues; ensures resolutions are consistent with program objectives. 

     

  • Demonstrates creativity and foresight by identifying, preparing, and presenting detailed technical reports and briefings on new concepts and technical directions impacting programs/projects, and defining future technology requirements. 

     

  • Collaborates, interacts, coordinates, and/or directly consults with AF, other governments, DoD, academic, and industry partners.

Required Qualifications

  • Flexible Length and Renewable Term Technical Appointments. This appointment type is used to appoint individuals who are not currently DoD civilian employees into any scientific, technical, engineering, and mathematic positions, including technicians, for a period of more than one year but not more than five years.

  • This is a Drug Testing Designated Position. The incumbent may be subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.

     

  • This position may require travel.

     

  • These are Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) positions and require a Level 2 certification (Practitioner). The selectee will have 36 months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained.

  • Knowledge of management and organizational principles and practices

     

  • Strong leadership to mentor and develop other military and government civilian personnel.

     

  • Background in organizing, coordinating, and executing team assignments.
