The AFRL Integrated Capabilities Directorate, Architecture Design Integration and Evaluation Division, Architecture Program Integration Branch is seeking to fill one general engineering (0801) positions at the DR-02/03 grade level. Vacancies to be filled will provide technical S&E expertise and collaborate with a team of operators experienced in combat operations, battle management, electronic warfare, cyber intelligence, and acquisition program managers in support to the Department of the Air Force (DAF) Command, Control, Communications, and Battle Management (C3BM). The AFRL/RSAI mission is to explore ways to integrate new architectural designs into current fleet and generates evidence necessary to transition capabilities into various programs of record.
 
Position duties for all openings include but are not limited to:
  • Performs multidisciplinary work involving the application of science and/or engineering principles to plan, organize, direct and coordinate significant and complex capability development projects and/or processes. 
  • Applies expert knowledge and advanced scientific/engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods to ensure assigned projects/processes remain consistent with program objectives, costs, schedules, performance criteria, and existing policies.
  • Demonstrates a mastery of, and skill in applying, innovative multi-disciplinary practices, techniques, and methodology to identify, analyze, and resolve issues; ensures resolutions are consistent with program objectives. 
  • Demonstrates creativity and foresight by identifying, preparing, and presenting reports and briefings on new concepts and technical directions impacting programs/projects, and defining future technology requirements.
  • Collaborates, interacts, coordinates, and/or directly consults with AF, DoD, other government agencies, academic, and industry partners.
  • Provides analytics to identify, assess, and mature innovative and affordable technology and concepts meeting future AF needs.

Required Qualifications

  • United States Citizenship
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with SCI access in the applicable career field.
  • Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience (SES) at the DR-01 or GS-11 equivalent to qualify for the DR-02 or at least one year of specialized experience (SES) at the DR-02 or GS-13 to qualify for the DR-03. Examples of specialized experience include experience working in cross-organizational teams or programs, building diverse coalitions in support of program objectives, and/or supervising or leading multi-functional teams. 
  • This is a Professional Engineering Position requiring a bachelor's degree in engineering with at least one program that is ABET-accredited IAW Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) 0800 Individual Occupational Requirements found at: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/0800/files/all-professional-engineering-positions-0800.pdf
  • The incumbent may be subject to random drug testing.
  • PCS may or may not be paid.
  • Positions is n the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) requiring Level/Tier 2 (Practitioner) Non-Critical Certification in Engineering and Technical Management. APDP experience requirement is 4 years in the applicable career field; and the selectee will have 60-months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained. Applicants must list all completed APDP certifications on their resume.
  • Position is eligible for telework but the employee must live within the commuting area of Nellis AFB.

Desired Qualifications

  • An advanced academic degree in a science or engineering (S&E) discipline from an accredited institution is highly desired
  • To be successful in this position, candidates will need experience in Advanced Battle Management Systems (ABMS), so prior experience in Air Battle Managers would be highly desired.  
  • Candidates with this experience will be able to understand agile combat employment communications, aerial data links, radar data feeds, command and control systems, and contingency response groups.
  • Experience as network engineers, network system engineers, program or project management would be beneficial to the candidate of this position.
  • Past positions with exposure to PACAF or INDOPACOM theater or past collaboration with the Defense Information Systems agency should also be highlighted in a candidate’s experience.
