The Architecture Design Branch (AFRL/RSAD) seeks to hire a mid-level DO-0080-02 non-supervisory Security Specialist at Hanscom AFB in Bedford, MA. The incumbent will serve as a Government Special Security Officer (GSSO) for Special Access Program (SAP) and security management activities across the AFRL Architecture Division (RSA) in the Integrated Capabilities Directorate (RS).
 
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Implements Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Air Staff and HHQ policy and guidance regarding operating standards for secure facilities. 
  • Uses collateral, SAP, and SCI security experience to address and resolve complex security challenges. 
  • Reviews initial notification of possible security violations for local investigation or referral to command or AFOSI for investigation, as appropriate. 
  • Reviews Secretariat of the AF (SAF) generated, Program Security Directives, Security Classification Guides (SCG), and other security related policies and instructions to ensure security is adequately and appropriately addressed prior to formal document publication. 
  • Provides security management and oversight for collateral, SAP, and SCI information acquisition, use, storage, and destruction. 
  • Responsible for Physical, Personnel, Information, Industrial, and Communications Security, and the Accountability and Control of three separate and distinct classes of information: Top Secret (TS), SAP/Special Access Required (SAR), and/or Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). 
  • Translates HQ AF and MAJCOM security requirements for local use. 
  • Applies broad AF, and MAJCOM security directives and policies to local conditions and situations.

Required Qualifications

  • United States Citizenship
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance 
  • Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience (SES) at the next lower grade level to qualify IAW the OPM Qualification Standard for Administrative and Management Positions. For DR-02 consideration, SES must be at the DR-01 or GS-11 equivalent. Examples of specialized experience include experience related to security management activities across Physical, Personnel, Information, Industrial, and Communications Security, and the Accountability and Control of Top Secret (TS), SAP/Special Access Required (SAR), and/or Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). 
  • The incumbent may be subject to random drug testing.
  • PCS may or may not be paid.
  • Position is eligible for situational telework, but the employee must live within the commuting area of the assigned duty station, Hanscom AFB.

  • Knowledge of counterintelligence principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of industrial security regulations.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to privacy and data protection.
  • Project Management Skills: Ability to manage security-related projects from inception to completion.
  • Training and Facilitation Skills: Ability to develop and deliver security awareness training programs.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with security technologies such as SIEM systems, intrusion detection systems, and vulnerability scanners.
  • Investigative Skills: Experience conducting security investigations and gathering evidence.
