The Science & Technology Protection Branch (AFRL/RYSP), Sensors Directorate seeks to hire a Mid-level Security Specialist, DO-02, in Dayton, OH. This position is open to candidates currently at the DO-01 (or equivalent grade) level eligible for promotion and/or current DO-02 (or equivalent grade) level candidates for reassignment.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Position provides technical and administrative direction to organization/program/system personnel concerning Information, Industrial, Personnel, Physical, and Operations Security activities to include Science & Technology Protection.
- Administers procedures for the development of classification guidance, document marking, safeguarding, and use; personnel access controls; need-to-know criteria; physical storage and control; and transmitting, transferring, reproducing, downgrading, and destroying information.
- Advises organization/program/system personnel of legal and regulatory provisions, requirements, and processes related to security management/administration.
- Assists with security awareness, training, and education programs.
- Conducts a variety of activities in multiple security areas within the organization/program/system.
- Works closely with security, counterintelligence, intelligence, Risk Identification and Security Countermeasures (RISC) personnel and data to enable the development and implementation of countermeasures for the protection of the AFRL programs.

Required Qualifications
- United States Citizenship
- Position will be filled using occupational series within the SECURITY career field. Applicant must be able to meet the OPM Qualification Standards of the position being filled. Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standards can be found at: General Schedule Qualification Standards (opm.gov), General Schedule Qualification Standards (opm.gov).
- Specialized Experience Statement: Applicants must have least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade DO-01, or equivalent in other pay systems. This includes experience provides technical and administrative direction to organization/program/system personnel concerning Information, Industrial, Personnel, Physical, and Operations Security activities to include Science & Technology Protection.
- Must be able to obtain/maintain a Top Secret with access to SCI security clearance, as condition of employment.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent will be subject to random testing IAW 36-2645: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC)
- Position is eligible for situational telework and will require routine mission travel, regular classified engagements, and in-person meetings that cannot always be scheduled around a regular/recurring telework schedule. Employee must live within the commuting area of Wright-Patterson AFB.
- Experience in coordination of classified projects and facilities.
- Excellent verbal, oral, and written communication skills for technical and senior leader audiences.
- Ability to perform TDY travel as appropriate for mission needs.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with S&T Protection and Risk Identification and Security Countermeasures (RISC) is desired.
