The AFRL/RQIO, Site Operations Branch seeks to hire a DO-0346-03 to serve as the Site Operations Branch Chief at Edwards AFB, CA. 

Position duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Chief of Site Operations—leads team of functional experts responsible for site security, emergency management, the Site Operations Control Center, emergency medical support, the Unit Control Center, exercise management, and liaison functions with host base operations organizations
  • Branch chief—serves as a first level supervisor overseeing government civilian personnel, and manages contractors supporting branch functions
  • Coordinates site test requirements with appropriate host base agencies to ensure air space and host base support is available for site’s test mission
  • Maintains awareness of policies, regulations, and other guidance related to branch’s functional responsibilities, and ensures effective processes and practices are in place to meet both mission and compliance requirements
  • Maintains AFRL-Edwards functional relationships with higher headquarters and Edwards host base organizations
  • Fosters and encourages a climate of innovation and continual improvement across the branch’s spectrum of functional responsibilities

Required Qualifications

  • United States Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required Top Secret security clearance
  • Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the DO-02 (GS-13 or equivalent) grade level or above. Specialized experience includes experience with rocket test operations, emergency contingency management, security-sensitive operations, hazardous materials operations, and cooperative interactions with Edwards host base operations partners such as Fire, Test Range, Civil Engineering, Medical Group, Command Post, and others.
  • Understanding of security disciplines and experience working with host base security organizations (e.g. 412 SFS, AFOSI, and others)
  • Experience managing support contracts
     

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field related to the job functions listed in the Job Overview section above
  • Familiarity with site’s rocket propulsion research, development, testing, and evaluation programs

  • Previous supervisory experience

  • Strong and effective communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong and effective teams, both internally as well as with external stakeholders

  • Ability to identify and employ creative solutions to meet mission requirements while maintaining compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards
