The AFRL Foundational Technologies Directorate seeks to hire a motivated and experienced Scientist or Engineer to serve as the Planning and Partnership Branch Chief (REYP) in the Mission Support Division (REY). This position will be filled at the DR-04 (GS-15 equivalent) level and is located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

Position duties include, but are not limited to:

  • First-level supervisory position for approximately 15 government civilian employees. Also responsible for oversight of onsite contractor support personnel.

  • Leads branch in providing strategic planning and programming support to the directorate.

  • Leads branch in supporting Integration & Planning and Mission Execution offices/functions.

  • Engages directly with Directorate and AFRL senior leadership.

  • Guides personnel serving as directorate level leads for key S&T mission areas, assistants/advisors to the Front Office Group (FOG) Chiefs, and data analysts.

  • Leads and supports Co-Located engineers and scientists providing critical engagement with Air Force acquisition offices.

Required Qualifications

  • US Citizenship

  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a Top Secret with access to SCI clearance, as a condition of employment

  • Applicant must be able to meet the OPM qualifications of the position being filled.

  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent will be subject to random testing.

  • This is an APDP position requiring Level/Tier 2 (Practitioner) Non-Critical certification in Engineering & Technical Management (N). This position has been designated as an acquisition position and the selectee will have 60 months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained.

  • Supervisory or Team Lead experience
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring, coaching, recognizing, hiring, and developing employees.
  • Thorough understanding of the Air Force budget planning and processes
  • Strategic Planning and Technology Portfolio management skills and abilities
  • Familiarity with the Air Force's Basic Research program and a range of foundational technology research and development areas including advanced materials, manufacturing technologies, human-centered research, and biological and cognitive technologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience with Air Force Acquisition Offices and engaging Air Force agencies and customers.
  • Partnering, collaboration, and coalition building skills and abilities.
