The HQ AFRL Missile Warning & ISR Branch (RVSU) seeks to fill a mid-level, DR-02 position of Computer Engineer-Autonomous Sensing within the HQ AFRL Space Vehicles Directorate (RV),Spacecraft Technology Division (RVS) at Kirtland Air Force Base, NM. Position duties include, but are not limited to:
• Design, develop, and test innovative methods for autonomous expert decision-making by integrated, distributed satellites tasked with sensor collection, constellation-level command and control, moving object track hand-off and state estimation/fusion/path prediction.
• Develop an autonomous testbed to evaluate optimization methods for utilizing dynamically configurable sensors and sensor networks for space-based surveillance.
• Develop strategies for autonomous sensing, processing, and decision-making
• Conduct technical efforts that analyze, validate, and assess the quality and latency of disparate sensor data sets and derived information for dissemination to non-space nodes.
• Work closely with an advanced electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) sensor concepts team and a data analytics team that are developing state-of-the art space-based surveillance technologies.

Required Qualifications
• United States Citizenship.
• Must possess a professional science or engineering (S&E) degree from an accredited academic institution.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
• Demonstrated knowledge of application of AI/ML/DL concepts for autonomous decision making.
• This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring level 1-Foundational,Non-Critical certification in Engineering & Technical Management (N). The selectee will have 24-months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained. Applicants for this position must list any acquisition certifications and status as an acquisition corps member in their resume.

Desired Qualifications
• One year of specialized experience at the DR-02/GS-13 or equivalent grade level. Specialized experience is experience providing the capacity and skills for working independently, leading collaborative events, working in teams and using these approaches to find and solve complex problems. Such experience may also include training, collaborative process facilitation, innovation design practice, writing background, editing job roles, continuous process improvement credentials, multi-agency liaison work, published work in refereed technical journals, and/or briefings to large groups.
• For this position, education or experience in the following areas is helpful and desired: deep learning, autonomy algorithm design and optimization, moving object detection algorithms, predictive neural networks, remote sensing, space architectures, space scenario simulation and visualization.
