This opportunity is for anyone interested in the role of Division Technical Advisor within the Air Warfare Directorate at the grade of DR-03 and DR-04 for multiple occupational series. Serves as the division scientific research and development technical authority. Responsible for leading the workforce in advancing long-term science and technology priorities in systems and programs. These positions provide scientific research and development oversight and ensure alignment with organizational priorities, mission objectives, and statutory requirements. The incumbents will lead a multidisciplinary workforce and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high‑impact results.

Major Duties

  • The primary role of this position is the scientific research and development technical authority for the core competencies in the division.
  • Represents the Division of the Directorate of Technology Advisory Committee (DTAC)
  • As part of the DTAC, in conjunction with the Engineering Board, works with capability portfolio leads to evaluate technical capability roadmaps and strategies.
  • Works with Portfolio leadership to develop S&T solutions, project plans, and internal/external partnerships needed to meet gaps and reduce risk.
  • Co-Lead, with the Division Chief Engineer, of the Win the Future Division Capability Portfolio’s technical management
  • Drives the translation of directorate and division mission and vision into executable strategies by providing critical guidance to the workforce.
  • Conducts division-level technical sufficiency reviews in conjunction with the Division Chief Engineer.
  • Provides advice and counsel to Directorate leadership, Portfolio technical leads, and Capability Portfolio Leads on S&T necessary to meet gaps and reduce risk.
  • Division lead for customer engagement processes specifically within the scope of S&T, ensuring horizon scan and lead-leverage-watch analyses to guide division and RA S&T approaches.
  • Fosters a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning to build, grow, and maintain the deep, multidisciplinary expertise essential for a premier lab mission.

Required Qualifications

  • US Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain at least a Secret security clearance. Some positions may require the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
  • At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (DR-02/GS-13 for DR-03; DR-03/GS-14 for DR-04), or equivalent experience in other pay systems.
  • This position may be filled under multiple occupational series. Applicants are required to meet all OPM Qualification Standard requirements for the applicable occupational series and grade.

  • Master's or Doctoral Degree in an appropriate career field.
  • Completion of Intermediate Developmental Education and/or Senior Developmental Education.
