The AFRL Munitions Directorate (AFRL/RW), IT Operations Branch (RWOC) seeks to hire a mid-level DR-0801-03 or DR-1550-03 or DO-2210-03, to serve as Branch Chief at Eglin AFB in Valparaiso, Florida. This is a multidisciplinary position and may be filled at either series.   The Information Technology (IT) Operations Branch Chief (RWOC) functions as technical authority with responsibility for supervising the planning, directing, and coordinating the systems and programming needs within the IT environment supporting AFRL/RW’s requirements in one or more of the following areas: Policy & Planning, Enterprise Architecture, Data Management, Security, System Analysis, Network Support, Customer Support.
AFRL/RWO is looking for motivated seasoned IT professional who can share their expertise in all areas of Information Technology.  
Leading/managing all aspects of sustaining and modernizing an IT program.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Experience in planning of manpower and financial resources necessary to support IT System requirements in one or more of the following areas:  Policy & Planning, Enterprise Architecture, Data Management, Security, System Analysis, Network Support, Customer Support.
  • Experience in developing workforce and guiding organizational activities to include setting objectives, planning, designing, and directing work priorities.
  • Experience as first-level supervisor, hiring, mentoring, and developing employees.

Required Qualifications

  • US Citizenship
  • Must be eligible for and maintain a top secret security clearance.
  • This position is a Drug Testing position.
  • This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level II Practitioner Certification.  Applicants for this position must list any acquisition certifications.
  • Must have 52 weeks of experience at the next lower grade (or equivalent) for promotion consideration.
  • For 0801 applicants - a professional engineering degree from an accredited school of engineering orinclude differential and integral calculus and courses in five of the following seven areas of engineeringscience or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluidmechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties ofmaterials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area offundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics
  • For 1550 applicants - Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science.  At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.  All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
  • For 2210 applicants:   Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.  All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions OR IT-related experience demonstrating attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.

  • Leadership: Strong soft skills to lead team with diverse skillsets to include team building, mentoring, and motivating teams; directing and managing team/project members effectively in a dynamic, fast paced environment, soliciting close teamwork and prioritizing competing projects fulfill long and short-range goals.
  • Resource Management:  Responsible for the overall execution process including day to day management of activities of team; participates in long-range planning of manpower and financial resources, manages the resources to meet long and short-range goals.
  • Problem Solving:  Identifying problems; determining accuracy and relevance of information; using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and making recommendations based on technical requirements.
  • Customer Service:  Working with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products your work unit produces, including individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, providing information or assistance, assigning staff to resolve their problems, or satisfying their expectations; knowing about available products and services, committed to providing quality products and services.
  • Communication (oral & written):  Expressing information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); making clear and convincing oral presentations, listening to others, attending to nonverbal cues, and responding appropriately.
  • Attention to Detail:  Work is thorough and conscientious about attending to detail.  Program/Project management to include hands-on oversight of the cost, schedule, and performance.
