The Prototypes & Flight Experiments Branch, AFRL/RVEP seeks to hire a Mid-Level Space Communications Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer In Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Position duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs RF system and antenna analysis to support program objectives and system test goals, including assisting in the design of on-orbit experimental activities to characterize, calibrate, and test the payload's actively steered electronic array. 
  • Provides subject expertise to review, analyze, and assess RF systems and antenna designs provided by contractors, for both space and terrestrial applications. 
  • Leads spectrum authorization requests for space systems through RF modeling, simulation, analysis, as well as processing the documentation necessary to obtain frequency coordination approvals.
  • Participates in RF test events and experiment planning for on-orbit operations.
  • Oversees and advises Air Force/Space Force projects as a subject-matter expert in satellite RF systems.

Required Qualifications

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with spacecraft assembly, integration, and testing. 
  • Experience with space technologies related to satellite communications. 
  • Experience with phased array RF modeling and simulation is preferred.
  • Experience working with or within the Department of Defense space flight community.
  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • Experience with positioning, navigation, and timing technologies. 
  • Experience with guidance, navigation, and control systems.
