The 711 Human Performance Wing (HPW) advances human performance in air, space, and cyberspace through research, education, and consultation. The Wing supports the most critical Air Force resource - the operational military forces.  The Air & Space Biosciences Division seeks to fill the DR-0601/0610/0401-02/03, En Route Care Section Chief.

Position Duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Serves as first level supervisor to all personnel in the section.
  • Identifies need for changes in priorities and takes action to implement such changes
  • Collaborates with Aeromedical research leadership team, program managers, core research area leads, product area leads, division chiefs, and DoD partners to support warfighter needs
  • Applies high level technical expertise, advanced theory, and evidence-based practice to design/conduct research in a diverse portfolio across multiple directorates and sites
  • Oversees day-to-day operations of the research team
  • Provides guidance to personnel involved in planning, implementation, and evaluation of research projects
  • Trains, consults, and supports researchers with study design
  • Assists with efforts to transition products into healthcare policy and practice

Required Qualifications

  • United States Citizen
  • This position may be filled as a 5-year Flexible Length and Renewable Term Technical Appointment (new government hires, current government term employees, etc.) with the option to later convert to a permanent appointment.
  • Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov
  • Incentives may/may not be authorized.
  • This position is Non-Critical Sensitive (Secret) position. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
  • This position may require travel.
  • This is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) positions. The employee must meet or be capable of meeting Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year or 52 weeks of specialized experience at the next lower grade of position being advertised, or equivalent in other pay systems.

Desired Qualifications

1.  Educational Background:

            • Master of Science Degree

2.  Experience:

• At least three (3) years of experience in aeromedical evacuation or critical air transport operational missions

• Operational deployment experience

• Experience in missions, major issues, program goals and objectives, work processes,  and operations of the Directorate

3.  Skills and Competencies:

             • Knowledge of Air Force operations, objectives, principles, and methods

             • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

             • Ability to multitask with strong organizational skills

             • Knowledge of management and organizational principles and practices

             • Strong leadership to mentor and develop other military and government civilian personnel

• Background on organizing, coordinating, and executing team assignments
