We're seeking a talented Technical Director to join our forward-thinking team and lead enterprise-level data connectivity projects from conception to deployment.

 

Position Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for providing expert technical guidance, advice, and direction in support of the design, production, procurement, and integration of high performance computing (HPC) resources to a DoD-wide community of scientists and engineers.

  • Researches, designs, develops, tests, and evaluates hardware and software requirements.

  • Responsible for formulating, coordinating, and recommending workable strategies to accomplish various DSRC efforts and initiatives.

  • Serves as an authority and technical expert/advisor in managing contractor activities and related acquisitions in developing and operating a world-class HPC center.

  • Developing, revising, and implementing immediate and long-range goals, objectives, plans, and schedules to meet substantial changes in legislation, program authority, and/or funding.

  • Supports organization services to include planning, acquisition, installation, testing, and maintaining hardware and software for the most advanced processing platforms and communication networks.

  • Engineer (0800):  To meet the eligibility of an Engineer, applicants must meet the following basic requirements. Degree in Engineering.   • Computer Scientist (1550):  To meet eligibility of a Computer Scientist, applicants must meet the following basic requirements. Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.   •  Information Technology (IT) Specialist (2210): To meet eligibility of an IT Specialist, applicants must meet the following basic requirements. Experience that demonstrated accomplishment of computer project assignments that required a wide range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques pertinent to the position to be filled. This knowledge is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant analyzed several alternative approaches in the process of advising management concerning major aspects of IT system design, such as what system interrelationships must be considered, or what operating mode, system software, and/or equipment configuration is most appropriate for a given project.   • Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lowest grade level or equivalent grade level of the position being advertised.

Desired Qualifications

  • A strong background in HPC, computer architecture, parallel programming, and experience with Linux systems, along with a proven ability to manage and lead technical teams
  • Expertise required in HPC storage and networking, including an understanding and design of storage architectures, parallel computing, and high-speed networking
  • Expertise required in security implementations such as multi-factor authentication, Kerberos, and multi-caveat systems
  • Expertise is required in the planning , evaluation, and execution of large DoD contracts for acquiring software, hardware, and services to provide HPC capabilities
  • Expertise in the design and implementation of automated processes and tools to install and maintain HPC environments, including Red Hat Satellite or Identity Management Servers
  • Expertise in the operation of HPC environments to support Special Access Program Computing
