Experience in the following: Supervising technicians and scientists and/or testing associated with the evaluation of components with fuzing electronics and/or Systems engineering & integration for components & higher levels amd/or working with/within DoD R&D community and/or working with developing and maintaining close relationships with industry, academia, and other gov't agencies on S&T and/or safety/quality aspects in operations and/or cultivates/sustains professional environment. Experience in technical training and/or prior experience to being an effective team member working multidisciplinary (R&D) efforts focused on munition fuzing, including a mix of university-level theoretical developments, early AFRL-lead proof-of-concept demonstrations, and larger demonstration and testing efforts coordinated with a broader DoD and contractor base.
- Directs, coordinates and oversees work through subordinate employees. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of senior management.
- Utilizes multidisciplinary professional engineering/scientific work involving the application of electronics, mechanical, systems, aerospace, computer, oprations research and/or other engineering/scientific disciplines to plan, organize, lead and coordinate research projects and/or processes.
- It applies a number of diverse engineering practices, techniques, and processes to identify and resolve issues, as well as ensure resolutions are consistent with program objectives, existing policies, and procedures.
- Performs analysis and uses systematic, disciplined, and quantifiable approaches to manage projects.
- Determines how best to accomplish multi-disciplinary engineering objectives, develops and evaluates alternatives, designs and conducts experiments, analyzes and interprets results, publishes papers and technical reports, delivers presentations of results, and monitors in-house activities.
- Prepares contractual documents, technical reports, and/or evaluates technical proposals if needed.
- Develops and maintains collaborations within and outside AFRL.
- Maintains a technical and programmatic cognizance of outside technological and research projects and programs; reports status to peers and senior technical leaders as required.
- Organizes, manages and participates in workshops and technical exchange meetings as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the DR-2 GS-12/13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, which must include the following experience: knowledge of standards for DoD/AF explosive safety and/or industry/DOE and/or propellant.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
- Individuals must have one year of specialized experience, which includes knowledge of standards for DoD/AF explosive safety and/or industry/DOE and/or propellant. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work done at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11/DR/DO-02). - Must have at least one year of specialized related experience at the DR/DO-01/GS-11 or equivalent grade level.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level/Tier 2 (Practitioner) Non-Critical certification in Engineering & Technical Management (N).
- This is a Drug Testing position.

Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with or within the Department of Defense or similar research community.
- Master’s Degree/PhD from an ABET accredited school.
- Experience with high voltage electronic systems.
- Experience designing both digital and analog electronic systems.
- Familiarity with application of MIL-STD-1316D to fuze systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead or guide small cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams to resolve technical challenges related to fuze technologies.
- Experience with facilitating and enabling internal/external collaboration and partnerships for technology development.
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
