The HQ AFRL Digital Capabilities Directorate Cybersecurity Management Division (IZC) seeks to hire a mid-level, non-Supervisory Computer Scientist located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio

Position duties include, but are not limited to:
• Research DoD/AF policy and processes regarding cybersecurity and advise on implementations in a research setting. 
• Interface with AFRL Technical Directorate CITO, ISSM, and Program Managers to advise on cybersecurity polices, processes, and challenges.
• Act as Security Controls Assessor including preparation of Security Assessment Reports to advise Authorizing Official in authorization decisions. 
• Support Security Controls Assessor Representative in application of AFRL Risk Management Framework to evaluate effectiveness of security controls.
• Communicate with DoD, Air Staff, Major Command, and AFRL leadership on requirements and issues related to cybersecurity.
• Participates in AF S&T Cybersecurity Working Group to develops policy and A&A governance structure to meet unique needs of laboratory community. 
• Participate in projects and on cross functional teams to improve AFRL cybersecurity processes, systems, services, policies and documentation.
• Champion approach to provide cybersecurity while enabling the complex needs of the AFRL technical environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Computer Scientist (1550):  To meet eligibility of a Computer Scientist, applicants must meet the following basic requirements. Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.   • Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade or equivalent grade level of the position being advertised

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in challenges and requirements of cybersecurity in the diverse information technology environment supporting the research mission needs of AFRL.
• Experience with a wide variety of IT systems, including laboratory equipment, networks, flight operations and cloud computing.
• Great interpersonal and communication skills.
• Certification(s) to satisfy DoD 8140 for work code 612 Advanced.
