Job Overview

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Directly supports division chief in management of site operations and security, logistics and munitions management, computing/information technology support, facility planning and base civil engineering support, rocket test support, business development, site-wide functional support planning and support operations, and division administration.
  • The Director of Operations (DO) manages site operational activities, and interfaces with corresponding functional offices at the 412th Test Wing, Edwards AFB.  
  • Supports site commander in emergency management planning and operational control of site resources during contingencies, exercises, and other emergency events.  
  • A Member of installation Crisis Action Team.
  • Second level supervisor overseeing government civilian personnel, and manages contractors supporting division functions.
  • Analyzes, evaluates and potentially re-engineers business processes across the Aerospace Systems Directorate (RQ).
  • Represents the Directorate and Division to other directorates, Air Force Organizations, DOD organizations and national and international organizations.

Required Qualifications

  • United States Citizenship
  • The ability to obtain and maintain the required Top Secret security clearance
  • Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the DO/DR-03 pay band (GS-14 or equivalent). 
  • Specialized experience includes experience in communicating complex processes to senior leaders and staff, gathering and analyzing data/information, developing alternatives to promote efficiency/effectiveness, complying with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines, supporting contract acquisition and management, program/project management, financial management, planning and organizing work to meet deadlines.

Desired Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience leading teams in operational (field) environments
  • 5+ years experience supervising military and government civilian personnel
  • 3-5 years experience leading support teams
  • Operational safety experience (engagement with systems, flight, weapons, and/or ground/occupational safety discipline)
