The AFRL Deputy Director of Staff provides leadership and direction to drive increased integration and teamwork across HQ functional directorates and across AFRL's History office, Commander's Action Group, HQ Personnel Support and Operations Support, and Wright Site's Military Commander's Support Staff. This position assists in providing executive oversight for the effective functioning of all headquarters operations, including facilities management, personnel management, resource allocation, and administrative processes. The incumbent will help champion and lead organizational change initiatives, ensuring that new processes, policies, and technologies are implemented to enhance AFRL’s ability to meet current and future needs.
Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
- Oversight of facility operations for HQ AFRL and over 300 on-site personnel in multiple buildings
- Execution of directorate budget totaling over $10M annually
- Representing DS interests at AFRL Board & Council enterprise governance events
- Serving as AFRL's primary liaison for higher headquarters taskings

Required Qualifications
- US Citizenship
- Current AFRL civilian employee
- Ability to obtain and maintain a TS-SCI clearance
- Drug testing is required
- A professional degree in Engineering or Science is required for DR candidates
- Appropriate APDP certification as required by occupational series
- Annual OGE 450 filing to ensure no conflicts of interest in the performance of duties
- One (1) year of experience at the next lower grade (DO/DR-02 or equivalent)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in a supervisor role and/or in leading teams
- A bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field is highly desired for DO candidates
