The Aerospace Systems Directorate (AFRL/RQ) seeks to hire a senior-level, DR-IV, General Engineer at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. The incumbent will serve as the Chief Engineer and Technical Engineering Authority for the RQ Technical Directorate (TD), providing advice and counsel to the TD Director on systems engineering and programmatic matters.
Position duties include but are not limited to:
- Develops, improves, and implements tailored science and engineering processes, policies, practices, tools, and training across the directorate's technical portfolio.
- Establishes and maintains working partnerships with end users and system managers across the acquisition and sustainment enterprise.
- Measures science and engineering effectiveness within the directorate.
- Ensures the directorate remains compliant with AFRL and Headquarters S&E policies.
- Mentors directorate S&Es and provide guidance and coaching.
- Collaborates with other AFRL S&T Chief Engineers to develop and promote consistent systems engineering policies and training.

Required Qualifications
- United States Citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first‐year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress‐strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
- At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade, DR‐03/GS‐14, or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities/competencies to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
