  • The Resilient and Agile Avionics Branch (RYWA), Sensors Directorate (AFRL/RY), seeks to hire a Mid-level, DR-0854-02, Research Computer Engineer and/or a DR-1550-02 Research Computer Scientist in Dayton, OH.
  • Position duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Executes open systems research in support of USAF and DOD objectives. 
  • Works with senior technical leaders, customers and other technologists to identify new opportunities to make open systems more capable and able to withstand cyber-attack.  
  • Designs and executes experiments to stretch the capabilities of open systems. 
  • Writes reports on work performed and briefs projects as needed.
  • Collaborates with team members to develop optimal solutions for robust open architectures with appropriate cyber security and anti-tamper functionality.

Required Qualifications

  • United States Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to meet the OPM Qualification Standards for the Series 0854, Computer Engineer or Series 1550, Computer Scientst. Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standards can be found at: General Schedule Qualification Standards (opm.gov).
  • This is a drug testing designation position.  The incumbent will be subject to random testing.
  • This position has been designated as a Non-Critical Acquisition Position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level/Tier 2 (Practitioner) Non-Critical certification in Engineering & Technical Management (N) acquisition certification. The selectee must meet or be capable of achieving acquisition certification within 60 months  after assignment. This position also requires the employee to engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 80 continuous learning points every 24 months. *Applicants must list all completed APDP certifications on their resume.
