AFRL DSRC (AFRL/IZHT) seeks to hire a mid-level, DR-1550-II or DR-0854-II HPC System Administrator at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
Position duties included but are not limited to:
- Serves as System Administrator for DoD Shared Resource Center's (DSRC) systems and programs ensuring proper administration of the classified and unclassified DoD's High Performance Computing (HPC) assets at AFRL.
- Manages hardware/software issues for both the system and user applications, submitting and tracking bugs as required.
- Installs, configures, and maintains UNIX and/or Linux based platforms, including creating, modifying, and deleting user accounts, performing system back-ups, and maintaining system configuration files.
- Troubleshoots complex problems and provides technical support to enable customers' effective use of HPC resources.
- Maintains Linux based system hardware/software, configuration management tools (Ansible) and firmware revisions, including patches, updates, and OS upgrades.
- Solves issues with Linux system hardware, software, and thirdparty software, and provides detailed and thoughtful analysis of the problem and solution.
- Provides solutions and implements repairs or workarounds, when possible, fully documenting steps taken when required.
- Evaluates state-of-the-practice approaches within government, industry, and academia; recommends unique, innovative, and effective hardware, software, and storage solutions.
- Develops proposals to enhance the operational use of HPC systems and keeps abreast of technological advances to ensure continued optimum service.
- Applies innovative techniques and judgment to assist management in identifying areas where systems can reduce or eliminate labor and time intensive manual processes.
- Tests and evaluates current and proposed equipment and software upgrades and advises management regarding acquisition proposals designed to enhance mission accomplishment through automation.

- Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the DR/DO-01/GS-11 or equivalent grade level.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate Security clearance.
- This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position. The employee will have 24-months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained. Applicants for this position must list any acquisition certifications and status as an acquisition corps member in their resume.

Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience
- Experience with High Performance Computing (HPC) to include cluster management, and job scheduling software.
- DoD 8570 certification - Security + and OS cert, Linux+ General knowledge of Linux and general Unix operating systems concepts as well as systems administration experience Experience with compiling, installing, and porting software.
- Experience with Storage Architectures: SAS, FC, SATA, Bandwidth, Performance Familiar in multi-factor authentication platforms and solutions, and Identity Management such as OpenID, LDAP, and Kerberos.
- Security implementations using multi-factor authentication, PKI, or Kerberos and Unix OS hardening to DoD STIG standards.
- Experience programming or troubleshooting Python code Experience with Red Hat Satellite or Red Hat Identity Manager
- Knowledge and experience of Linux operating systems (RHEL or SLES), workload management systems, parallel file systems, networking and security.
