The Systems Management Division (DOM), seeks to fill the mid-level, DR-02 position of General Engineer located within HQ AFRL Operations Directorate (DO) at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. Immerse yourself in 100+ test programs per year that demonstrate the readiness of AFRL’s most promising technologies to transition into programs of record. This office is currently hybrid telework and applicant must have ability to work in-office when required. The expectation will be in-office during qualification & training (nominally the first month) and then be able to conform to in-office policy after qualification. Although current in-office policy is a hybrid in-office/telework with 2 days in-office per week, this policy may change to meet mission requirements. Applicants must have ability to manage and track multiple projects simultaneously, demanding an organized and process-oriented mentality.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Serves as a subject-matter expert and advisor to the Director of Operations, the AFRL Commander and staff for ground, flight, and space test and evaluation (T&E).
- Utilizes multidisciplinary professional engineering knowledge to apply systems analysis and program management techniques to the detailed planning of AFRL ground, flight, and space tests in a safe and technically rigorous/efficient manner.
- Provides mentoring, coaching, and team-specific training to colleagues.
- Develops and recommends T&E policies among various levels of AFMC, DoD and other government and contractor agencies impacting AFRL test programs.

Required Qualifications
- United States Citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Special Sensitive security clearance

- Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level or equivalent. Examples of specialized experience include experience in areas of flight, space test, or evaluation concerning the planning of ground, flight, or space tests in a safe and technically rigorous or efficient manner.
- This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level I (practioner) Non-Critical certification. The selectee will have 24-months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained.
- This position requires drug testing and the candidate may be subject to passing a drug test upon selection.

Desired Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in flight test planning, coordination, authorization, and execution [Highly Desired]
- Familiarity with radio frequency (RF) management & RF equipment certification
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in science or engineering (S&E) from an accredited academic institution
- Prior experience in an AFRL Technical Directorate
- Ability to travel occasionally on temporary duty assignments (TDYs)
