Seeking the next great Network Engineer to support the Research Collaboration and Computing Directorate, AFRL DoD Supercomputing Resource Center (DSRC) and Defense Research Engineering Network(DREN). Position supports DoD Supercomputing Resource Center (DSRC) providing research, design, development, testing and evaluation of hardware and software requirements for complex, high-performance computing (HPC) systems.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Analyzes and defines requirements for high-performance computer-based systems, infrastructure and facilities, which provide world class HPC resources to a DoD-wide community of scientists and engineers engaged in specialized RDT&E technology research.
- Evaluates state-of-the-practice approaches within government, industry and academia; recommends unique, innovative and effective hardware, software, storage and networking solutions.
- Evaluates evolving hardware and software technology, scientific visualization, high-performance storage and high-speed local/wide area networking.
- Tests and evaluates current and proposed equipment and software, and advises management regarding acquisition proposals designed to enhance mission accomplishment.
- Supports all levels of classified network environments (unclassified, secret, Special Access Program SAP, Intelligence Community SCI) and COMSEC.

Required Qualifications
- United States Citizenship
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
- Must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade DR-01/GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems.
- Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.
- This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level II (Practitioner) Non-Critical certification in Engineering and Technical Management (ETM).
