Job Overview

  • Serves as Solid Rocket Motor Test lead managing all test activities and operations from build-up thru test of novel rocket technology.
  • Lead cross-organization team, including test personnel, security, safety, quality assurance, and munitions to plan and develop test processes and conduct operations.
  • Manages cost, schedule, and performance of unique rocket Test & Evaluation portfolio.
  • Oversees large Government and Contractor team conducting operations across multiple test pads.
  • Works with industry and DoD partners as part of Public-Private Partnerships to advance the US rocket technology base.
  • Regularly conveys technical test stand information, readiness, and risks to peers, senior leaders within AFRL and test customers.

Required Qualifications

  • United States Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required Secret security clearance
  • Must have five years of experience at the DR-II (GS-12/13 or equivalent) grade level or one year of experience at the DR-III (GS-14 or equivalent) grade level
  • BS Engineering degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
  • Must have two years test experience in either rocket or flight test
  • Experience with programming and budgeting in regards to research and development programs
  • Demonstrated ability to work with industry partners to meet mission requirements
  • This is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level/Tier 2 (Practitioner) non-critical certification in Engineering and Technical Management (N). The selectee will have 24-months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained.
