The Radio Frequency Bioeffects Branch of the 711th Human Performance Wing within the Air Force Research Laboratory (711HPW/RHDR) is looking for a Radio Frequency Bioeffects Engineer, DR-08XX-02 in San Antonio, TX.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:

- Plans, designs, and conducts research to characterize the interactions of electromagnetic fields with biological systems.
- Applies electrical engineering principles to conduct research on radio frequency (RF) bioeffects; including the design, development, installation, maintenance and operation of unique one-of-a kind test equipment and apparatus for scientific experiments.
- Develops test plans, procedures and automated data collection techniques for conducting research.
- Develops and utilizes physics based computer models for propagation of interaction of electromagnetic fields with tissue and other materials used in research.
- Reviews, evaluates and recommends engineering resources to meet current and future needs of the Branch research goals.
- Contributes to electromagnetic field safety guidance and standardization efforts through scientific organizations.

Required Qualifications
- US Citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain special sensitive clearance.
- This is a Testing Designated Position. The incumbent may be subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment.
- Males must be registered for Selective Service at www.sss.gov.
- The position may require travel.
- Must possess a professional engineering degree from an accredited academic institution.
- Incentives may/may not be offered.
- This is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position, and requires a Level 1 certification (Foundational). The selectee will have 24 months to meet APDP requirements or waiver must be obtained.
- This position may be filled as a 5-year Flexible Length and Renewable Term Technical Appointment (new government hires, current government term employees, etc.) with the option to later convert to a permanent appointment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year or 52 weeks of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent in an alternate pay system. Examples of specialized experience include experience in application of knowledge of radio-frequency and microwave waves to develop exposure systems to understand biological responses.

Desired Qualifications
- Experience with data collection of of signals and responses from electromagnetic exposures utilizing specialized test equipment.
- Experience with dosimetry of radio-frequency radiation exposing water-based substances creating a thermal profile of response.
- Knowledge and experience applying uncertainty quantification methods.
- Knowledge of Air Force operations, objectives, principles, and methods.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask with strong organizational skills.
- Background in organizing, coordinating, and executing team assignments.
