The AFRL Materials and Manufacturing Directorate seeks to hire a motivated and experienced General Engineer or Scientist to serve as a Power and Energy Project Engineer or Scientist focused on operational energy and installation resilience in the Future Force Energy and Power Office of the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate. This position will be filled at the DR-02 (GS-12/13 equivalent) and is located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.

Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Utilizes multidisciplinary professional engineering work involving the application of electronics, mechanical, systems, aerospace, and/or other engineering disciplines to plan, organize, lead and coordinate research projects and/or processes.
- Applies a number of diverse engineering practices, techniques, and processes to identify and resolve issues, as well as ensure resolutions are consistent with program objectives, existing policies, and procedures.
- Performs analysis and uses systematic, disciplined, and quantifiable approaches to manage projects related to materials and manufacturing.
- Determines how best to accomplish multi-disciplinary engineering objectives, develops and evaluates alternatives, designs and conducts experiments, analyzes and interpret results, publishes papers and technical reports, delivers presentations of results, and monitors in-house activities.
- Prepares contractual documents, technical reports, and/or evaluate technical proposals if needed.
- Develops and maintains collaborations within and outside of AFRL.
- Maintains a technical and programmatic cognizance of outside technological and research projects and programs; reports status to peers and senior technical leaders as required.
- Organizes, manages and participates in workshops and technical exchange meetings as required.

Required Qualifications
- US Citizenship
- Possess a professional science or engineering (S&E) degree, in a relevant technical field, from an accredited (or ABET accredited for engineering) academic institution
- Possess and maintain a Secret security clearance
- This is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level 1 Foundational certification in the Engineering & Technical Management stall. Applicants must list all completed APDP certifications on resume. Selectee will have 3 years to meet the APDP certification requirements of the position.

Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in science or engineering
- Minimum of 3 years project management experience
- Experience with operational energy and installation resilience RDT&E is preferred
