    • This job announcement will be accepting candidate submissions until 16 August 2024.  AFRL/RDSMI is seeking an entry-level, Facilities Specialist, DO-1601-01, in Maui, Kihei, HI. 

      Position duties include, but are not limited to:

      • Performs planning & design work for substantial multi-phase new construction, renovations, and improvement projects for real property facilities, including utility systems, utilizing a technical knowledge of engineering to carry out programs & policies for the 15th Space Surveillance Squadron, requiring evaluation, construction, inspection, planning, design, and operation of facilities, buildings, structures, systems, processes, supplies, equipment, materials, devices, and data systems. 
      • Responsible for carrying out a variety of projects in support of minor construction & maintenance/repair projects. 
      • This position works to identify/implement construction requirements & strategies for research ops; to oversee operations & maintenance, and administer the CE Operations flight functions, to include the preventative maintenance program and AMP management. Performs the role of CE Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the 15 SPSS BOS and other support contracts. 
      • This position coordinates, schedules, & oversees facility maintenance, operations, and minor construction for the observatory on Mt. Haleakala and two sea-level sites. Independently, this position performs facility utilization studies, analyzes data, makes decisions and recommendations to the Sq/CC and BOS contract COR, and participates in policymaking meetings. 
      • Functions as the organization's technical specialist in design/development engineering for critical systems, support systems, equipment items/devices. 
      • Performs work involving the application of electrical, mechanical, and/or other engineering disciplines to determine the business & technical needs of customers in the acquisition, development, or sustainment of systems, subsystems, support systems, equipment items, or an equivalent product. Performs complex & comprehensive analysis. 
      • Provides quality assurance on type, amount, and effectiveness of preventive maintenance programs as well as reviewing repair recommendations for failed systems.

  • Required Qualifications:
      • 3 years any CE (Portfolio Optimization, Project Programming, Project Management, Community Planner, Ops Flight, etc.) positions at a GS11 level or higher
      • Good working knowledge of NEXGEN and BUILDER
  • Desired Qualifications:
      • 3 years of Air Force specific CE Operations Flight positions at a GS11 level or higher
      • Good working knowledge of NEXGEN and BUILDER
      • COR or Contract SME experience
