The Human Effectiveness Directorate of the 711th Human Performance Wing within the Air Force Research Laboratory (711 HPW/RH) is looking for an outstanding leader. The RH Directorate needs to fill the DR-0801, 0401, 0601, Engineer/Medical-IV- Deputy Position.
Position Duties include, but are not limited to:
Serves as the Deputy for the Human Effectiveness Directorate.
Applies expert knowledge of advanced engineering methods, theories, and standards such as mechanical/biomedical/aerospace to exploit biological, medical and cognitive S&T to optimize and protect the Airman’s and Guardian’s capabilities to fly, fight, and win in Air Space, and Cyberspace. Focuses on maturing and transitioning S&T related to: Training, Adaptive Warfighter interfaces, Bioeffects, and Medical & Operational Biosciences.
Utilizes multidisciplinary professional engineering knowledge to oversee the planning & execution of S&T programs to enable, enhance, sustain, and restore health and human performance of the multi-domain Airman and Guardian.
Reviews R&D efforts to ensure effective action, fidelity to policy, and coverage/analysis.
Creates internal directives to ensure unified work efforts. Determines major programs/projects that should be initiated or reduced & advises higher officials of impact.
Develops methods to streamline/reduce program & operating costs to ensure effective management and enhance mission execution.
Programs are national and/or international in scope and require extensive planning and joint action with aerospace activities, including federal agencies, industry and private research organizations.
Works directly with commands & operating agencies to unify Directorate efforts to support the Warfighter. Initiates/directs special activities to ensure AF technological readiness.
Chairs or serves on international/national, DoD, AF, USSF, and AFMC panels & committees; actively engages in devising short/long range research, exploratory and advanced technology plans.
May represent AFRL in high-level forums with AF, USSF, DoD and national laboratories, military organizations, federal agencies & international research organizations to orchestrate technology evolution, and to present or defend the status of current/proposed programs.

This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The successful candidate must be certified or have the ability to attain the level of Practitioner in APDP Engineering and Technical Management (N).
Must file an OGE Form 278, Public Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.
This is a Drug Testing Designated Position. The incumbent may be subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
This position may require travel.
This position may be filled under multiple occupational series. Applicants are required to meet all OPM Qualification Standard requirements for the applicable occupational series and grade.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year or 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to DR-03 in the Federal service or equivalent in an alternate pay system.
