This position will serve as Patent Attorney in the Legal Office (AFRL/RIJ) at the Information Directorate (RI) located in Rome, New York.

The position duties include but are not limited to:
- Provides highly specialized legal advice and counsel within the Air Force on complex patent prosecution and related intellectual property matters.
- Responsible for the timely and independent negotiation, preparation, filing, and prosecution of legal instruments and documents, including: patent applications; patent interference proceedings; infringement investigations; patent appeals; technology transfer and related agreements; Invention Secrecy Act (ISA) orders and related applications; and patent, trademark, copyright, and technical data agreements and claims.
- Conducts legal and scientific research and advises employees on rights in inventions, patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, technical data, computer software.
- Advises on rights in technical data and computer software, and administers the office program to monitor contractor compliance with the Patent Rights clause in government contracts and other instruments.
- Responsible for the timely completion of administrative duties, as assigned by leadership.

- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Failure to obtain and maintain the required clearance may result in the withdrawal of a position offer or removal.
- Proof of successful completion of a law degree (minimum: J.D. or equivalent)
- Provide evidence that the applicant has successfully passed the U.S. Patent and Trademark Organization (USPTO) registration exam and is an active (USPTO)member.
- Proof of active membership of the Bar of any state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or any U.S. territory, in good standing
- Drug testing designated position; Incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment and participation in random drug testing
- The employee must, within 30-days of assuming this position and annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report; and is required to attend annual ethics and procurement integrity training.
