The AFRL Space Vehicles Directorate seeks to hire a senior-level, DR-03 or DR-04 Geospace Technologies Division Chief at Kirtland AFB, in Albuquerque. New Mexico. The incumbent will lead a broad team of scientists and engineers that develop cutting-edge technology to understand and exploit space systems and capabilities. Geospace research areas include space environment sensing and modeling to specify, forecast and mitigate impacts to space systems and services; developing communications/ navigation technologies such as new frequency and waveform agility, quantum sensors, quantum timing, extending communications to V/W-band, demonstrating backwards-compatible translator satellites and laser communications; as well as developing new nuclear system technologies, modeling & simulation, and demonstrations to enable future space/strategic systems and operations.

- Required Qualifications:
- US Citizenship
- Must possess a professional science or engineering (S&E) degree from an accredited academic institution
- Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the DR-03/GS-13 or equivalent grade level. Specialized experience is experience providing the capacity and skills for working independently, leading collaborative events, working in teams and using these approaches to find and solve complex problems. Such experience may also include training, collaborative process facilitation, innovation design practice, writing background, editing job roles, continuous process improvement credentials, multi-agency liaison work, published work in refereed technical journals, and/or briefings to large groups.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
- This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level II Non-Critical certification in Science and Technology Management (STM). The selectee will have 24 months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained. Applicants for this position must list any acquisition certifications and status as an acquisition corps member in their resume.
