The AFRL Foundational Technology Directorate seeks to hire a motivated and experienced mid-level Systems Authorization Lead / ISSM in the Intergration and Operations Division. This position will be filled at the DO-02 (GS-12/13 equivalent) or DR-02 (GS-12/13 equivalent) level and is located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio. This position may be filled as a 5-year Flexible Length Term appointment (new government hires, current government term employees, etc.) with the option to later extend or convert to a permanent appointment.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Directs the system authorization (Risk Management Framework (RMF)) process to ensure organizational computer systems comply with Federal, Department of Defense, and Air Force IT management requirements.
- Oversees system authorization change management: Ensures laboratory and major information system configuration item and change management items are properly documented—balancing mission value & operational/continuous compliance processes.
- Interfaces with RE computer users and Information Technology (IT) managers to maintain compliance with applicable communication security and computer security control laws and regulations.
- Ensures systems meet current Air Force and Department of Defense required configurations based on the determined mission capability level and operational environment.
- Analyzes system components, processes, interfaces, and configurations as part of system authorization processes to document and communicate risks.
- Recommends and reviews controls and mitigations to IT managers and system architects to address system residual risks.
- Prepares specifications, documentation, and reports for management, including recommendations, advisory documents, and summaries relating to information technology and information assurance.
- Serves as a focal point for cybersecurity functions; helping ensure RE compliance with applicable computer and communication regulations.

- US Citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain/maintain a Top Secret with access to SCI and SAP security clearance, as a condition of employment.
- Applicant must be able to meet the OPM qualifications of the position being filled.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent will be subject to random testing.
- Must have baseline certification meeting DoD 8140/DoD 8570.01M Cyber Workforce Improvement certification(s) meeting DCWF Work Role 722 (ISSM) / IAM level II or obtain within 6 months of assignment.
- This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level/Tier 2 (Practitioner) Non-Critical certification in Engineering and Technical Management (N) and the selectee will have 60 months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained.
- Desired Qualifications:
- Experience documenting and coordinating authorization documentation, particularly desirable is experience with the AF Enterprise Missiion Assurance Support Service (eMASS) system.
- Experience communicating IT technical challenges, opportunities, and capabilities at various audience levels with organization partners.
- Experience leading a technical group of contractors and/or government personnel executing information systems security support for DoD organizations.
- Certifications, training, or degrees in cybersecurity management, IT standards, best practices, and/or process improvement.
- Experience with DoD implementations of RMF.
- Working knowledge of DoD IT environment.
- General understanding of data flows and network security controls.
