The 711th Human Performance Wing within the Air Force Research Laboratory (711HPW) is looking for an outstanding leader to support the Commander in the DR-IV-level Deputy Director Position. Suitable series include 0801, 0401, 1515, 1550 Scientist/Engineer.
Position Duties include, but are not limited to:
Formulates, plans, initiates, and directs a broad range of Department of the Air Force (DAF) mission-enabling Science and Technology (S&T) and Line of the Air Force (LAF) Medical / Operations and Maintenance (O&M) programs that span all DAF core functions, domains, and mission areas. Leads, manages, and provides highly advanced scientific and technical guidance on critical human systems S&T; aerospace medicine research, consultation, education, and training; and related strategic issues.
Utilizes expert-level multidisciplinary operational knowledge and experience to provide counsel in these areas to all levels, to include senior general officer (GO), senior executive service (SES), undersecretary, secretary, industry president, vice president, and CEO levels and across the spectrum of defense organizations to include major commands (MAJCOMs), combatant commands (COCOMs), DAF, Department of War (DoW), other services, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), other US agencies to include Department of Energy (DOE) and NASA, the intelligence community, universities, and the defense industrial base.
Responsible for performance of strategy-to-task, roadmap development and execution, and portfolio development; LAF O&M medical and S&T program execution, performance, and contribution to the DAF mission; and multi-domain/discipline integration and collaboration.
Supervises, leads, manages, and develops a multi-discipline workforce of medics, scientists, engineers, and support staff that cover numerous program areas encompassing multiple major technical thrusts.
Provides institutional oversight of human subject research programs.
Provides supervision, leadership, management, and development over an organization of 2000+ civ service members, military officers and enlisted, technical subject matter expert (SME) contractors, and support contractors.
Ensures a highly integrated, productive, effective, and motivated workforce.

This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The successful candidate must be certified or have the ability to attain the level of Practitioner in APDP Engineering and Technical Management (N).
Must file an OGE Form 278, Public Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.
This is a Drug Testing Designated Position. The incumbent may be subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
This position may require travel.
This position may be filled under multiple occupational series. Applicants are required to meet all OPM Qualification Standard requirements for the applicable occupational series and grade.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year or 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to DR-03 or higher in the Federal service or equivalent in an alternate pay system.
