The AFRL Materials and Manufacturing Directorate seeks to hire a motivated and experienced mid-level analyst to serve as a Risk Identification and Security Countermeasure (RISC) Analyst in the Security Operations and Information Protection Branch of the Integration and Operations Division. This position will be filled as a DO-02 (GS-12/13 equivalent) level; candidates with one year of specialized experience at the DO-I (GS-11 equiv) will be considered. This position is located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Serves as Risk Identification and Security Countermeasures (RISC) Analyst identifying and assessing potential risks to the Directorate technology portfolio.
- Determines probability of threats and severity of damage in conjunction with Program Managers and Subject Matter Experts to assist leadership in making risk management decisions for protecting assets during technology life cycle.
- Provides risk-related briefings to Branch, Division and Directorate leadership.
- Coordinates with AFRL RISC Teams and employees across the Enterprise. Identifies and addresses issues, best practices, standardization and program efficiencies to improve both Directorate and AFRL processes.
- Performs in-depth research using classified and open-source databases to profile known and unknown risks per DoD and AFRL policy.
- Develops processes using all-source research and analysis tools and conducts targeted analysis of select risk personalities, groups, and networks.
- Collects, organizes, and analyzes data related to the RISC Program, and provides metrics to leadership based on identified risks.
- Assists with Science & Technology (S&T) Protection risk reviews of contracts and collaborations with industry, academia, etc., including reviews of specified contract documents.
- Remains adept and current with changing requirements and policies. Interprets and implements S&T Protection and RISC policies, principles and procedures.
- Develops security related Operating Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures, training, and other materials tailored to the Directorate.
- Provides technical guidance, advice, and training to Directorate personnel on security topics, including threat awareness.
- Collaborates with the Intelligence Community to enable mutual exchange of information for protecting critical technologies and research areas.
- Participates in aspects of Functional Compliance, including self-assessments, inspections, and exercises.
- Responds to taskings and information requests from higher Headquarters.
- Performs duties as required under the direction of assigned branch and division leadership.

- US Citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Special Sensitive (TS/SCI) security clearance.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment and participation in random drug testing.
- Applicants must have at least 1 year of specialized experience at the next lower grade DO-1/GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems.
- Desired Qualifications:
- Analytical skills are the key desired qualification for this position; successful applicants may have diverse experience history's, such as 08XX, 1301, 1515, 1101 and 0080.
- Experience working with the Air Force Research Laboratory Science and Technology community.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; promotes culture of cooperation, cohesion and teamwork.
- Ability to work well with people having diverse educational backgrounds.
- Competent briefing senior leadership.
