This job opportunity is for anyone interested in a Supervisory position within Air Warfare Directorate, Eglin AFB FL (currently with Energetics’ Materials Branch, AFRL/RWTE) seeks to hire DR-0801-03, Supervisory Senior General Engineer and/or DR-1301-03, Supervisory Senior Physical Scientist. These two positions are open to all qualified U.S. citizens.
Qualified candidates who respond to this announcement will be considered for a first level supervisory position in these areas.
Serves as a first level supervisor responsible for leading, planning, and executing a diverse portfolio of programs, operations, and strategic initiatives. This position provides first level supervisory oversight across multiple functional areas and ensures alignment with organizational priorities, mission objectives, and statutory requirements. The incumbent leads a multidisciplinary workforce and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high‑impact results.
Major Duties
- Provide strategic leadership, vision, and direction for supervisory responsible for ensuring mission execution and organizational effectiveness.
- Oversee development, implementation, and evaluation of policies, programs, and initiatives that support enterprise goals.
- Lead and manage a diverse team of leads, specialists, analysts, and technical experts; establish contribution expectations and foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Allocate resources, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational standards.
- Drives the translation of division, directorate mission and vision into executable strategies by providing critical guidance and input during high-level meetings and working groups.
- Identify risks, assess impacts, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure operational resilience and mission continuity.
- Drive data‑informed decision‑making and champion process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Forging and guiding dynamic coalitions with partner organizations, stakeholders, and external agencies to accelerate mission outcomes.
- Oversee development of long‑range plans, strategic roadmaps, and workforce strategies to meet emerging mission needs.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning to build, grow, and maintain the deep, multi-disciplinary expertise essential for a premier lab mission.

- US Citizenship
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance. This is a Drug Testing designated position. The incumbent will be subject to random testing.
- At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS‑13 DO/DR‑02; or equivalent experience in other pay systems.
- This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The successful candidate must have the ability to attain the level of Practitioner in APDP Engineering and Technical Management (N). Applicants for this position must list any acquisition certifications in resume.
- Employees may be required to work overtime.
- Must file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.
- This position may be filled under multiple occupational series. Applicants are required to meet all OPM Qualification Standard requirements for the applicable occupational series and grade.
- Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working in a large, complex organization or federal agency.
- Demonstrated success leading cross‑functional teams or enterprise‑level initiatives.
- Experience related to or supporting energetic materials mission area concept development, science and technology, research and development, test and evaluation, program management, employment, and/or sustainment.
- Leading and conducting research in the characterization, initiation, performance, or dynamic properties of energetic materials
- Experience in the supervision of engineers or scientists in a laboratory environment.
- Demonstrated ability leading or guiding cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams to resolve technical or warfighter challenges.
- Experience distilling strategic and/or leadership guidance into actionable plans or courses of action.
- Diversity of experience including successfully completed assignments in multiple organizations across at least two geographic locations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead people, build consensus, and identify and resolve conflicts/problems with the workforce.
- Ability to motivate, develop, and grow technical teams.
- Passion for developing innovative approaches and solutions.
- Ability to support and enable organization programs, mission, vision, values, and promote a culture of innovation.
- Experience with facilitating and enabling internal/external collaboration and partnerships.
- Master's or Doctoral Degree in appropriate career field.
- Completion of Intermediate Developmental Education and/or Senior Developmental Education.
