The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Geospace Technologies Division (RVB) is seeking a dedicated Purchasing Program Specialist to drive the logistical and procurement backbone of our cutting-edge space technology research. This critical role supports the entire RVB division—spanning two distinct branches and over 10 specialized laboratories. The selected candidate will directly enable scientific breakthroughs by ensuring researchers and engineers have the specialized equipment, materials, and operational supplies required to execute their missions without delay.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Manage and execute approximately $1M per year in small purchases to sustain division-wide laboratory and administrative operations.
- Serve as a primary operator of the Government Purchase Card (GPC) program, alongside utilizing other authorized small purchase channels and contracting methods.
- Source, negotiate, and purchase specialized laboratory R&D equipment, advanced scientific instruments, testing materials, and technical services.
- Procure general office supplies, IT peripherals, and logistical support materials to maintain daily administrative and facility activities.
- Interface directly with scientists, lead engineers, and branch leadership to translate technical requirements into actionable, timely purchases.
- Maintain strict adherence to federal and DoD procurement regulations, reconcile monthly GPC logs, and ensure meticulous financial tracking and audit readiness.

- Required Qualifications:
- US Citizenship.
- Early to mid-level career professional with a proven background in purchasing, procurement, logistics, or government acquisition.
- Familiarity with the GPC program, micro-purchase thresholds, and standard government procurement regulations.
- Strong financial tracking, budget management, and vendor communication skills. Ability to independently research suppliers for niche scientific equipment.
- Exceptional organizational skills to track concurrent orders across 10+ laboratories, ensuring on-time delivery and accurate fiscal reporting.
- Proficient in using Google Sheets and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to meet schedule and deliverables.
