      The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Air Force Research Laboratory, Information Directorate (AFRL/RI) Government Special Access Program Security Officer (GSSO), ensuring the program complies with legal and regulatory requirements while meeting customer needs.

      • Act as the Government Special Access Program Security Officer (GSSO), assisting with the administration and evaluation of the functional management aspects of the DOD Special Security Programs.
        Plans, organizes, and directs a comprehensive Special Access Program (SAP) Security Program to ensure compliance with DoW, USAF, and national-level directives.
      • Manages all facets of the SAP security program, including Physical, Personnel, Information, and Industrial Security.
      • Researches, interprets, and translates DoW and Air Force security policies and requirements to formulate and implement local guidance.
      • Serves as the primary security liaison between program managers, contractors, and oversight agencies, providing direct policy guidance.
      • Interprets Security Classification Guides (SCGs) and reviews other key security documents, such as Program Security Directives (PSDs) and contract security specifications (DD Form 254), ensuring accuracy.
      • Leads the response to security incidents by investigating potential violations, conducting damage assessments, and determining appropriate corrective actions.
      • Maintains secure facility accreditation and conducts required self-inspections.
      • Implements and maintains a security education and training program, acting as the primary security policy expert for all SAP-cleared personnel.

      • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent will be subject to random testing

      • At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade: DO-01, GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized Experience is experience directly related to the position that was performed at a level equivalent to the grade directly below the position.

      • This position requires the following certifications; IAW with AFI 36-2645: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC). Selectees will have 2 years to obtain the required certifications.
